NALC Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive
Each year, communities across the country come together for one powerful day of giving—and here in Indiana County, we’re proud to be part of it.
We at the United Way of Indiana County are happy to participate in the National Association of Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, the largest one-day food drive in the nation. Held annually on the second Saturday in May, this incredible initiative mobilizes letter carriers, volunteers, and residents to help restock local food pantries just as supplies often begin to run low.
How It Works
Participating is simple—and makes a big impact. Residents are encouraged to place non-perishable food donations in a bag near their mailbox on the morning of the food drive. Your local letter carrier will collect the items during their regular route and ensure they are delivered directly to local food banks and pantries.
Proceeds from this food drive will be donated to Indiana County Community Action Program (ICCAP) and Love Basket, helping neighbors and families facing food insecurity in Indiana County.
This year’s Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
Residents served by the following post offices are encouraged to participate:
Indiana Post Office
Blairsville Post Office
Homer City Post Office
Commodore Post Office
Penn Run Post Office
Rossiter Post Office
Clarksburg Post Office
(Participation may vary by location, as involvement is determined locally.)
Why It Matters
Food insecurity continues to affect individuals and families across our region. Nationally, millions of Americans rely on food assistance each year, and initiatives like Stamp Out Hunger play a vital role in helping meet that need.
For many local food pantries, donations collected during this drive help bridge the gap during the summer months when demand increases but donations often decline.
At United Way of Indiana County, we believe in the power of community—and Stamp Out Hunger is a perfect example of what happens when people come together for a common cause. From our dedicated letter carriers to generous residents and volunteers, every contribution helps make a difference.
Together, we can help ensure that no one in Indiana County goes hungry.
